Colorado State University - Pueblo announces new guest student policy and fees

Pueblo-  Individuals who are interested in dabbling in art, music, computer systems, a new foreign language or any other college course topic, but who don’t want to take exams or earn credits are invited by Colorado State University-Pueblo to become a guest student and take up to two courses a semester at half the tuition rate of regular classes.

Beginning this Fall, the new guest status will allow individuals to take up to six hours, or two courses a semester, for no credit at a cost of about $100 per credit hour plus course fees, if applicable. A guest student taking a three-credit-hour non-credit course, for example, would pay $300-$400 rather than $800-1000 that was charged previously. Guest students will register on the first day of classes and will be admitted on a space-available basis. Completion of a simplified application and payment of only one application fee is required to become a guest student. The guest student status is limited to Colorado residents.

According to Director of Admissions Joe Marshall, the benefits of the new guest student policy include reduction of tuition costs and elimination of the payment of mandatory student fees. Guest students may complete a one-time guest student application rather than completing one each semester. The University also has eliminated the 30 credit hour cap of courses taken since the courses will be taken as no credit. Guest students may participate in the class as much or as little as they choose, opting whether to take tests, complete assignments, etc.
