Colorado State University - Pueblo AIM car
show brings new lift as well as dollars
Pueblo- The donation of a $6,000 car
lift by an anonymous donor was one of the results of the April 20 car show
sponsored by Automotive Industry Management students at Colorado State
University-Pueblo.
Students in the AIM 425 Financial Management class initiated the project and
worked closely with CSU-Pueblo Foundation staff to organize the event to
raise funds for a new lift and additional equipment and tools for the
program’s laboratory.
The only program of its kind in Colorado and one of only a handful of
programs nationally, AIM boasts a 97 percent job placement ratio thanks to a
stellar reputation in the automotive industry for producing students with a
solid knowledge of automotive operating systems and business skills. Success
is based on the theoretical foundation the students receive bolstered by
hands-on laboratory experiences.
According to AIM faculty member Cathi Robbe, the first CSU-Pueblo AIM car
show was a success with more than 25 entries, a car bash, concessions, and a
pie in the face event that raised more than $500. The climax of the event,
however, was an announcement by CSU-Pueblo President Joseph Garcia that the
$6,000 lift had been purchased and donated by an anonymous friend of the AIM
program. The lift will be purchased from SWIS Equipment and installed by the
University’s Physical Plant staff. It will be the second lift installed in
the last two years.
“This was a great learning experience for the AIM students,” Robbe said.
“They produced a tremendous outcome in a short amount of time, and the
anonymous lift donation was icing on the cake.”
