Colorado State University - Pueblo hosts
inaugural Order of the Engineer induction
Pueblo- The Engineering Department at
Colorado State University-Pueblo will hold its inaugural induction into the
Order of the Engineer at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 in the Occhiato
University Center. The induction is open to any practicing engineer or any
undergraduate engineering student within two semesters of graduating.
The Order is the roster of engineers in the United States who have
participated in an Engineer's Ring Ceremony and who have publicly accepted
the "Obligation of an Engineer." The Order of the Engineer was initiated on
June 4, 1970 at Cleveland State University to foster a spirit of pride and
responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between
training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol
identifying the engineer.
Any engineer is eligible for induction if he or she has graduated from an
ABET-accredited engineering program or holds a license as a Professional
Engineer. Students enrolled in ABET-accredited engineering degree programs
are eligible if they are within two academic terms. Other candidates may be
considered eligible because of equivalent credentials, subject to the
approval of the National Board of Governors. The induction and lifetime
membership has a one-time $10 cost. The new inductees will receive a ring
emblematic of the standards of their profession. Family members and past
inductees are welcome to attend.
Light refreshments will be served after the short ceremony. Engineers
wishing to be inducted must have the little finger on his/her working hand
sized and make a one-time payment of $10. Both can be done Monday thru
Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Engineering Department Office, Technology 263.
