Colorado State University - Pueblo hosts 2008 Southern Colorado Policy Issue Forum

Pueblo-  Genocide and understanding mass violence and ethnic conflict will be the subject of the 2008 Southern Colorado Policy Issue Forum sponsored by the Colorado State University-Pueblo Political Science Club next week.

The following panelists will engage in a discussion of genocide, ethnic conflict, and mass violence: Dr. Colette Carter, CSU-Pueblo professor of political science, moderator; Dr. Mark Gose, CSU-Pueblo professor of political science, theories of ethnic and mass conflict conflict; Dr. Frances Pilch, United States Air Force Academy professor, violence against women as a tool of mass violence; and McKinley Lane, survivor of the Khmer Rouge "education camps" in Cambodia in the 1970's, who will relay personal experiences of mass violence.

"To Genocide We Speak: Understanding Mass Violence and Ethnic Conflict," will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. on April 10 in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom. The panel discussion will follow an induction ceremony for four students into Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science National Honor Society.

The first 150 CSU-Pueblo students to reply by April 4 will be admitted free to the dinner. The campus and community are invited to attend the dinner at $12 per person. There is no charge to attend the panel discussion at 7 p.m. Reservations to the dinner should be made by April 4th to Kim Nakaguma at 719-549-2156.

Students are selected for induction based upon their outstanding scholarly achievements in political science at CSU-Pueblo. Student inductees and their hometowns follow:
