Colorado State University - Pueblo nursing students participate in annual 9health fair

Pueblo-  The Nursing Department at Colorado State University –Pueblo will coordinate a host of local organizations to provide health screenings and education at the annual 9Health Fair on Saturday April 19.

The Annual 9Health Fair will be held from 7 a.m. – noon on April 19 at Praise Assembly of God, 2000 Troy Ave. The 9 Health Fair provides free medical screening services and education to those 18 years and older. Additional in-depth screening services will be available for a nominal fee.

Attendees may speak with or ask questions throughout the fair. Participants may obtain free information or tests for body fat skinfold, body balance, breast exam, colon cancer education, finger stick glucose test, foot screening, hearing screening, lung function, mental health, oral health, pap smear, prostate/testicular exam, pulse oximetry and skin examination. We will also have stations for “Talk with a Health Care Professional” and “Talk with a Pharmacist” available.

9Health Fair blood vouchers are available at www.9healthfair.org for $30 until March 24. Other screenings include complete blood count $15, a 31-component blood chemistry screening $30 and for men over 40, Prostate Specific Antigen $25. Those persons having blood drawn need to fast 12 hours prior, while diabetics are NOT required to fast. All are encouraged to drink plenty of water.

The following organizations will provide interactive learning stations:
AARP, Alzheimer’s Association, Arthritis Foundation, Colorado Beef Council, Colorado Talking Book Library, Donor Awareness Council, Food and Drug Administration, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Pinnacol Assurance, SLV Women’s Resource Center, Southern Colorado Aids Project (S-CAP) and Stroke Survivors-Pueblo.
