announces annual women’s poetry competition

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the English Department and the
Women’s Studies program at Colorado State University - Pueblo announce the
15th annual contest for Southern Colorado’s women poets.
Up to three poems of any length or type may be entered by each individual.
The back of each entry (poem) should include the following information:
author’s name, phone number, address, e-mail (if applicable), and the
division being entered (middle school, high school, college, or
community-at-large). All entries will be considered for publication in a
future volume of the Southern Colorado Women's Poetry Series.
Cash prizes of $25 (1st), $15 (2nd), and $10 (3rd) will be awarded in each
division. All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008.
Mail or deliver entries to: Margaret Barber, c/o Dept. of English,
Psychology 162, CSU-Pueblo, 2200 Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo, CO 81001.
Winners in each division will be announced at the Evening of Women's Poetry
at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 17, in the Occhiato University Center Hearthwell
Lounge. A panel, including Kim McKee, four-time winner of international
Celtic songwriting competitions, will judge the contests. McKee will perform
with Ken Willson at the March 17 event, sponsored by the CSU-Pueblo Women's
Studies Program. The annual women's poetry contests and Evening of Women's
Poetry are sponsored by the Women's Studies Program in celebration of
Women's History Month.
