Colorado State University – Pueblo veterans raise funds for wife, son of fallen soldier

Pueblo-
Beta Sigma Iota Alpha, the veterans fraternity at Colorado State University – Pueblo, will sponsor a fundraiser next week to assist with day care costs for the son of a student whose husband was killed in Iraq on Sept. 18.

United States Army Sgt. James R. Worster, 24, assigned to the 10th Combat Support Hospital, 43rd Area Support Group, Fort Carson, Colo., died on Sept. 18 while serving in his second tour in Iraq. His wife, Brandy, is a senior sociology major at the University.

Early Childhood Education Management Systems (ECEMS), the on-campus daycare facility owner, Louanna Razo, has generously offered to pay 50 percent of all costs for Worster’s son, Trevor, at the on-campus facility until the end of spring semester when Mrs. Worster expects to graduate.

The fraternity will attempt to raise $1,000, or the other half of the daycare funds, to assist Mrs. Worster in her time of need through a memorial fundraiser to be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 5-6. Two tables will be accepting donations on campus, one in front of the Life Sciences Building and a second in front of the Library Wing.

In exchange for their donation, contributors will receive a Support our Troops bracelet that recognizes the bravery and sacrifice of those who serve.

According to fraternity member Stacey Schoch, the student organization sought a way to show their support to a fellow student and to do something that will help her stay on track to reach her graduation goal.
