Colorado State University – Pueblo
sponsors workshop for those considering grad school
Pueblo- Colorado State University – Pueblo undergraduates and community
members who are considering pursuing education beyond a bachelor’s degree
are encouraged to attend a fact finding workshop to obtain information about
funding sources, the application process, and entrance examinations for
graduate school. The event will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 in
the Occhiato University Center Cottonwood Room. The event is sponsored by
Mujeres Unidas de CSU-Pueblo.
Information available at the workshop will include tips for how to apply and
pay for graduate school, including a timeline for the application process
and for fellowships and financial assistance. The session also will cover
when to take the appropriate entrance examinations, such as the GRE, GMAT.
The presenters are representative of the different areas of specialization
e.g. science (chemistry), humanities, engineering, each of these areas
require a different entrance examination and have different acceptance
requirements.
“The workshop is particularly appropriate for sophomores and juniors, since
they’ll not only have time to prepare with the required courses necessary,
but hopefully also can plan campus visits to those programs that interest
them,” said Event Coordinator Dora Luz Cobian. For seniors, the workshop
will help them stay on course with the application process.
CSU-Pueblo representatives will represent the following disciplines and
topic areas: Dr. Mel Druelinger, chemistry; Dr. Bea Spade, history; Dr.
Karen Yescavage, psychology; Dr. Jane Fraser, engineering, and Christina
Baldwin, Student Financial Services.
For more information, contact Cobian at 549-2537.
