CSU–Pueblo Music Department Seeks Honor Choir, Orchestra
Pueblo- The Music Department at Colorado State University – Pueblo is
seeking high school musicians interested in participating in the 4th annual
Southern Colorado High School Honor Orchestra and Honor Choir, which will
practice and perform on Oct. 27-28. This is the second year that the Honor
Orchestra event is being held in conjunction with the Southern Colorado High
School Honor Choir.
Music directors at area high schools are asked to submit recommendations of
student musicians they feel are deserving and capable of such recognition,
according to Dr. Mark Hudson, chair of the CSU-Pueblo Music Department.
Hudson said this year’s Honor Orchestra will be limited to strings (violin,
viola, cello, bass) in an effort to balance the many opportunities that
exist for band instrument performers.
Applications should be postmarked by Friday, Oct. 6 for students to be
included in the concert program. The only cost to students will be
transportation to and from the University, lunch money or bag lunches, and
housing needs if coming from a school too far to commute. All music will be
provided for the choral members as well as practice tapes. Students will be
expected to have parts learned and adequately prepared before arriving for
the event.
For additional information, contact Dana Ihm, CSU-Pueblo director of choral
activities, at 549-2125, dana.ihm@colostate-pueblo.edu, or Hudson at
