CSU-Pueblo Attracts Young Entrepreneurs to 2006 Pueblo Apprentice, More Slots Available

Pueblo-
More than 30 students and their parents attended the opening event of Pueblo Apprentice 2006 on September 9 at the City Hall Building in downtown Pueblo. The event featured an inspirational message from this year’s mentor, Dave Feamster, owner of the Pueblo area Little Caesar’s franchise. Feamster shared his own story of perseverance in the National Hockey League to offer encouragement to the young entrepreneurs in attendance. The 2006 Pueblo Apprentice can accommodate up to 150 students.

Students enrolled in the 2006 Pueblo Apprentice are given $20 seed money to start their own business. Students more join with up to four other students to operate their business over the next 14 weeks. Students must file periodic financial statements that are relatively simple, but effective. The grand prize winner of the contest will win a $10,000 scholarship, or seed money to start their own business. Prizes will be given to runner-up contestants in 3 divisions (K-8; 9-12; Collegiate) and each contestant will receive 10 percent of the money they turn in through a stipend from an educational foundation established to administer revenues from the contest.

The next orientation session for the 2006 Pueblo Apprentice is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 15), at 830 N. Main, Castle Investment and Loan Building, in downtown Pueblo. For official rules, visit www.studentclubs.colostate-pueblo.edu/sife. For more information, call CSU-Pueblo Management Professor and SIFE Fellow, Mike Wakefield at 549-2933.
