CSU-Pueblo offers free student YMCA membership during Massari renovation
Pueblo- General use memberships at the YMCA will be offered free
beginning today to currently-enrolled Colorado State University – Pueblo
students during the $12.7 million renovation of Massari Arena and the Sam
Jones Wellness Center.
Students wishing to take advantage of the membership offer must present a
valid student I.D. and complete a membership application at the YMCA. Upon
completion of enrollment, students will be issued a membership card, which
must be presented upon entering the YMCA. The membership is open to students
thanks in part to the Recreation Fee students pay as part of their tuition
and fee package. The membership offer does not apply to CSU-Pueblo faculty
and staff, who may use the weight equipment in the Belmont Residence Hall
throughout the renovation. Students may also use the BRH facilities,
including weight room and basketball court, unless it has already been
reserved.
CSU-Pueblo student memberships to the YMCA will be available starting today
(Monday, June 26). The memberships will offer general access to the Y’s
facilities including the pool, gymnasium, racquetball courts, and all
cardiovascular and strength training equipment. The YMCA provides one
full-sized gym with 6 baskets, a walking/running track above the gym, two
racquetball courts, six treadmills, four ellipticals, four stair-steppers,
one row machine, five stationary bikes (plus bikes for the cycling classes),
a 25-meter pool, weight machines, and free weights. In addition to general
access, students also have the option of paying regular program fees to
participate in special programs and classes offered by the YMCA.
Located at 700 N Albany Ave., the YMCA is open Monday through Friday from 5
a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday from 5 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m.
Students may take advantage of the membership offer at any time during the
renovation by visiting the YMCA.
“Because we are committed to the overall growth and well-being of our
students, we wanted to find a healthy alternative for them during this
renovation,” said Arrow Kennedy, interim director of student life and
development. “We encourage students to take advantage of this membership
opportunity and tremendous campus-community collaboration.”
