CSU–Pueblo choirs travel for 10-day performance tour of Europe
Pueblo- Members of the Concert and Chamber Choirs at Colorado State
University – Pueblo will head overseas for a 10-day tour of European
performances, May 8 – 17, 2006.
Under the direction of Dr. Dana Ihm, the choirs will depart from Denver next
Monday, and begin their tour in Munich, Germany with stops in Austria and
Prague, Czeckslovakia. Austrian performance venues include the Salzburg
Cathedral in Salzburg, St. Mary's Church in Bad Durnberg, Austria. Vienna,
Austria sites include the St. Stephen's Cathedral and St. Martin's Church.
While in Prague, the choirs also will sing in the historic St. Nicholas
Church.
Students will also experience the Salt Mines and Herrenchiemsee Castle just
outside of Salzburg and Mozart’s birthplace and Hohensalzburg fortress in
Salzburg. While in Vienna, the group will attend the Vienna State Opera,
visit several museums, and tour Schonbrunn Palace Gardens. The tour also
will include visits to the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt where Haydn lived
and worked as the court composer for many years.
