Denver Businessman establishes endowment fund at CSU-Pueblo
Pueblo- A Denver businessman has established the Robert K. Spratlen
Scholarship Endowment Fund at Colorado State University – Pueblo thanks to a
$130,000 gift to the CSU-Pueblo Foundation.
Spratlen, a retired concrete business owner, has asked that the gift be used
to offer scholarships that provide at least one-half of the annual tuition
and fees for a full-time CSU-Pueblo student. To be eligible for the
scholarship, a person must be a full-time student at the University in good
academic standing. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years with
the intent that students finish his or her degree within four years.
Spratlen’s connection to CSU-Pueblo goes back nearly three decades to his
days as a student at the University. He and members of his family also have
been connected with other significant benefactors of the University,
including Robert H. Rawlings. His relationship with Rawlings was one of the
factors in his decision to make this most recent gift.
“This gift will provide from two to four new scholarships for our most
worthy students at Colorado State University – Pueblo,” said President
Ronald Applbaum. “It is Mr. Spratlen and donors like him who ensure that a
college education will remain affordable to our students.”
Colorado State University - Pueblo is a regional, comprehensive university
emphasizing professional, career-oriented, and applied programs. Displaying
excellence in teaching, celebrating diversity, and engaging in service and
outreach, CSU-Pueblo is distinguished by access, opportunity, and the overall
