CSU-Pueblo hosts annual teacher education
fair
Pueblo- Nearly 50 local, regional, state, and national school districts
will participate in Colorado State University-Pueblo’s annual Teacher
Education Fair next week. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on
Thursday, April 13, in the Occhiato University Center.
According to Michelle B. Gjerde, director of the CSU-Pueblo Career Center,
candidates must be teacher qualified to participate. Participants seeking
full-time teaching positions should be professionally dressed, bring
numerous copies of updated resumes, and be prepared to interview.
The Teacher Education Fair format schedule is as follows: 9 – 9:45 a.m.,
Open Networking and Sign-Ups for interviews with school districts; 10 a.m. –
5 p.m.; interviews throughout the day. Candidates may have one interview,
while other may have 12 based on individual preferences and the availability
of recruiters. Current student teachers, alumni, and members of the Pueblo
community are welcome to attend this free event.
Gjerde indicated that the most highly sought teaching fields are Foreign
Language, Special Education, Math, Science, ESL, Music and English.
“Teaching candidates should possess excellent communication skills and
teaching abilities. Competition is beginning to increase, so only the best
teachers will rise to the top,” advises Gjerde.
Among the districts participating are: Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Adams
County, Amarillo Independent School District, Aurora Public Schools, Boulder
Valley School District, Canon City Schools, Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta
Preparatory High School, Cheraw School District, Cheyenne County, Colorado
Department of Education, Colorado Springs School District 11, Denver Public
Schools, Dolores School District, Elbert, Elizabeth, Falcon School District,
Fountain-Fort Carson Dist 8, Gallup-McKinley County Schools, Harrison School
District 2, High Plains Educational Co-op, Holly School District, Hope
Online Learning Academy, Huerfano, James Irwin Charter High School, Keppel
Union School District, Laramie County School District , La Veta, Lamar,
Laramie Country, Liberal Unified School District, Manzanola School District
