CSU – Pueblo President Applbaum
Decides to Reume Faculty Career
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State University-Pueblo President Ron Applbaum today
announced his decision to resume his career as a faculty member following
the completion of his four-year contract in July, 2006. At that time,
Applbaum will take up duties as a tenured professor of management at CSU-Pueblo.
“I want to thank Dr. Applbaum for his years of service as president of the
university, and, on behalf of the Board of Governors, express our commitment
to the continued growth of CSU-Pueblo in terms of quality, service and
academic excellence,” Colorado State University System Chancellor Larry
Penley said Dr. Penley will consult with the Colorado State University Board
of Governors prior to making a decision on a search process.
Applbaum joined CSU-Pueblo in July 2002, after serving as president of Kean
University in New Jersey. He oversaw the transition of the University of
Southern Colorado into CSU-Pueblo in 2003. Today, CSU-Pueblo enrolls
approximately 4,100 students in 29 undergraduate and six graduate programs.
It is officially designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the
Department of Education, which grants the designation to select campuses
where Hispanic enrollment is at least 25 percent of the total student
population.
“The university has an opportunity to become, in the next decade, an
institution of significantly greater quality,” Applbaum said. “I am honored
to have been a part of its development, and I look forward to resuming my
scholarly work as a member of CSU-Pueblo’s fine faculty.”
