CSU-Pueblo’s Southern Colorado Reading Series features
poet Bruce Weigl on Sept. 16
Pueblo- Noted Poet Bruce Weigl will read from his recent work during
a panel discussion and lecture as part of the Southern Colorado Reading
Series on Friday, Sept. 16.
A presentation and panel discussion about his work will begin at 6 p.m. in
Occhiato University Center 205 with a public reading of his recent work
following at 7 p.m. in the ASG Senate Chambers, Occhiato University Center
201. The event is open to the public at no charge.
Bruce Weigl is the author of more than 15 books, including the best selling
Song of Napalm, and the memoir of his Vietnam war experience, Circle of Hanh.
He has taught at numerous universities, including Penn State University, Old
Dominion, and the University of Arkansas.
Weigl's poems, translations, essays, articles, and reviews have appeared in
publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Nation, and
Harpers. His poems have been widely anthologized in The Best American
Poetry, The Pushcart Prize Anthology, and Paul Fussell's Anthology of Modern
War Literature. Weigl's poetry has been translated into Vietnames, Chinese,
Japanes, Romanian, Slovenian, Bulgarian, Servian, French, and Spanish. He
has won numerous awards, including the Northern Ohio Live Award for
Literature and a National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Grant.
The series is sponsored by the CSU-Pueblo Department of English. For the
past five years, the Southern Colorado Reading Series has brought nearly 20
of Colorado’s best writers to campus to meet with students and introduce
them to their work.
