Colorado State University – Pueblo Hosts
internationally recognized nutritional educator
Pueblo- An internationally recognized health educator will conduct a
hard-hitting, nutritionally-sound, research-based discussion of food and its
effects on the body next week at Colorado State University – Pueblo.
Deanna Latson, MA, C.C.N., an internationally recognized nutritional
educator who has spoken to at universities and companies around the world,
including Stanford, NYU, and AT&T, will present “Eat Right. Feel Good. Look
Great!” beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13 in Hoag Hall on the
CSU-Pueblo campus. This free event is sponsored by the CSU-Pueblo Student
Activities Board.
Latson will discuss how health plays a vital role in students’ athletic,
academic and life goals.
Consider these not-so-fun facts about college students:
• 1/4 of U.S. students eat no fruits or vegetables on any given day.
• Eating disorders are an epidemic on college campuses.
• Students that drink soft-drinks risk becoming fat, weak-boned,
cavity-prone and caffeine-addicted.
• 48% of all college students complain of low energy.
• College students are not making the grade when it comes to good nutrition.
• 56% of all college students are overweight.
• 59% of students say their diet has gone down hill since they went to
college.
The presentation will touch on the following topics:
• Foods you can eat to stay fit
• Meals perfect for test days and finals week
• "Slow poisons" you eat everyday
• How to avoid feeling lethargic
• The top ten foods that sabotage your weight loss efforts
