Colorado State University – Pueblo
announces summer bridge program for minorities
Pueblo- Colorado State University - Pueblo and the Colorado Alliance
for Minority Participation (CO-AMP) announce a one-week summer bridge
program in July for minority students entering college in the fall of 2005
intending to major in science, math, engineering, or technology. Transfer
students also are welcome.
The program starts Sunday, July 31 with an afternoon check-in and reception
for parents. The program ends the afternoon of Thursday, August 4. During
the program, students are encouraged to live in CSU-Pueblo residence hall;
talk with professors in science, math, engineering, and technology and tour
labs; receive an introduction to academic majors and the advising system;
tour a local company to learn about jobs in these fields; experience a “mini
course” with reading, lecture, homework, and quiz; and participate in
recreational activities with CSU-Pueblo students. Students pay only $50 for
the program.
Students who complete the program will receive one credit hour of academic
credit and will learn valuable skills to help ensure success in college.
While the program is targeted at minority students, all students are welcome
to apply. Students must be intending to major in science, technology,
engineering, or mathematics.
