Colorado State University – Pueblo offers Diabetes Prevention Outreach Program

Pueblo-
Classes are forming now for a free, 16-week course for individuals at high-risk or predisposed to diabetes, beginning the week of May 16th. Colorado State University-Pueblo, in conjunction with the Pueblo Community Diabetes Project (PCDP), Parkview Diabetes Care Center, and The All-In-One Health Place for Diabetes at St. Mary Corwin Medical Center, began implementing a Diabetes Prevention Outreach Program back in January of this year. The program is offered to Pueblo residents who are at high-risk for and/or predisposed to Type 2 diabetes.

The free 16-week program focuses on weight reduction and increasing physical activity. Classes are delivered in small group settings at various locations and times. The weekly, one-hour meetings will supply participants with handouts, instruction, and other supportive material and incentives to assure that each individual will achieve some level of success.

This is a great opportunity for individuals that are serious about changing their lives to develop a healthier lifestyle that could reduce their risk for, or even eliminate the development of diabetes.

All are welcome to register for the free 16-week course.

For further information or to register for the class, call Julie Kuhn at (719) 549-2855 or email julie.kuhn@colostate-pueblo.edu
