Colorado State University - Pueblo plans more Physics for Fun Seminars

Pueblo-
Students in Colorado State University – Pueblo’s Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization will sponsor a week-long on-line art auction April 8-15 to benefit two participating elementary schools.

More than 40 pieces of student artwork from Swallows Charter Academy (third grade) and Pueblo School of Art and Science (first through fifth grade) will be on the electronic auction block all week with winners determined by the highest bidder as of 5 p.m. on Friday, August 15.

SIFE members spent three days with the elementary school students. The first day consisted of presentations on entrepreneurship along with pre and post testing to assess the students’ knowledge of basic business functions. On day two, clay donated by the CSU-Pueblo art department was delivered to the elementary students, who then began work on their choice of sculptures. The wet clay projects were fired thanks to CSU-Pueblo art professor Vicky Hansen. SIFE then supplied paints and brushes for day three activities, which consisted of students painting and finalizing their projects.

Photographs of the student sculptures may be viewed on the auction website, http://studentclubs.colostate-pueblo.edu/Sife/Sife/  and bids will be taken from Friday, April 8 through April 15 by clicking on Bid Form. Bids will begin at $2 per item with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the elementary schools and the remaining half to the SIFE students for future projects.

SIFE is a nonprofit organization that gives students the tools to learn the free enterprise system in a real working situation. SIFE challenges students on more than 800 college campuses nationwide to take what they're learning in the classroom and use their knowledge to better their communities.
