Colorado State University – Pueblo Career Center announces Teacher Education Fair

 The Career Center at Colorado State University-Pueblo will host its annual Teacher Education Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, in the Occhiato University Center on campus. More than 35 local, regional, state, and several national school districts will participate. Current student teachers, alumni, and members of the Pueblo community are welcome to attend the free Education Fair

The Fair will begin with Open Networking and Sign-Ups for interviews from 9 to 9:45 a.m., with actual interviews scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

School districts who plan to participate include: Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Adams County School District 50, Amarillo Independent School District (Texas), Aurora Public Schools, Bering Strait School District (Alaska), Canon City Schools, Chama Valley School District (New Mexico), Cheraw School District, Cheyenne County School District RE-5, Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Springs School District 11, Crowley County School District RE-1-J (Ordway), Eagle County School District, Edison Schools (New York), Falcon School District, Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, Gallup-McKinley County Schools (New Mexico), Harrison School District 2, Holly School District RE-3, Jefferson County Public Schools, Laramie County School District 1, LaVeta School District RE-2, Manzanola School District 3J, Park County School District (Fairplay), Pueblo School Districts 60 and 70, Rocky Ford School District R2, Sangre de Cristo School District (Mosca, Colo.), Sheridan School District 2, St. Vrain Valley School District (Longmont), Thompson School District (Loveland), Widefield School District 3, and Woodland Park School District Re-2.

According to Michelle Gjerde, director of the Career Center, districts are seeking candidates in all fields, but particularly in math, science, Spanish, ESL, music, and English.

“With the increasing level of competition, teaching candidates should be ready to face the job market possessing excellent communication skills and teaching abilities,” Gjerde said. “Candidates seeking full-time teaching positions also should be professionally dressed, bring plenty of updated resumes with them, and be ready to interview.”
