Colorado State University – Pueblo Signs
Agreement with Rostov State University
Pueblo- Following a Fall visit by Galena Pshegusova, chair of the
English Language Department at Rostov State University in Rostov-on-Don,
Russia, Colorado State University – Pueblo has signed a mutually benefit
agreement with Rostov State. The University signed a similar agreement in
September with the Hiroshima College of Foreign Languages in Hiroshima,
Japan.
Pshegusova spent two months at CSU-Pueblo researching the American higher
education system as her country’s educational system transforms from a
broad, mostly theoretical knowledge to a competence-based approach. The
agreement between CSU-Pueblo and Rostov State University involves academic
exchanges in various areas of education, research, and extension. The
institutions will coordinate the exchanges of faculty, scholars, students as
well as educational, research, and extension materials. The agreement
remains in effect for five years and renewable for five-year terms upon
mutual consent.
“During Galena’s visit, we found similar fields of common expertise and
interest, but also realized we had much to learn about other systems of
higher education internationally,” said CSU-Pueblo President Ron Applbaum.
“This agreement is reflective of CSU-Pueblo’s commitment to diversity and
our willingness to learn from cultures, people, and institutions that are
different from our own. It will provide a framework for what I see as a
continuous improvement process for both institutions.”
