Colorado State University – Pueblo Teacher
Groups Sponsor 4th Annual Book Drive
Pueblo- This holiday season, the Colorado State University-Pueblo
Teacher Education Association and Teacher Education Program in collaboration
with many Pueblo business and community partners are sponsoring the 4th
Annual Bring a Kid a Book (BAKAB) book drive.
The 2004 BAKAB goal is to raise 2,500 books to put into the hands of school
children. Four high-need elementary and K-8 schools in Districts 60 and 70
will be selected to receive the donated books. The books will go directly to
the students attending these schools so that each student will have a book
to call his or her own. Books received over the minimum will be given to
additional high-need schools or other child-serving organizations in the
Pueblo community.
Waldenbooks in the Pueblo Mall has joined the BAKAB efforts. Books or gift
cards can be purchased at Waldenbooks and donated to the book drive. Many
community partners such as Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo Surgical Center,
and Decibel Community Credit Union also have agreed to place donation boxes
for new or like-new books at their businesses.
The BAKAB book drive will continue through Christmas Eve. All books will be
delivered to the area schools when students return from the winter holiday
break. Individuals or businesses wanting more information about the program
may contact the Teacher Education Program at (719) 549-2681.
