Colorado State University – Pueblo
announces ‘Dining for Success Etiquette Training’
Pueblo- Which fork do I use? How do I butter a roll? What should I
do with food that drops in my lap? The answers to these and other etiquette
questions will be addressed at Colorado State University – Pueblo’s 6th
Annual Dining for Success Etiquette Training for junior, senior and graduate
students. The event, to be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, at the
Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main, will feature about 25 community
leaders and 175 CSU-Pueblo students.
The annual event prepares students for the professional world through a
networking reception followed by a dinner that will pair one or more
community leaders with about seven students per table, and a presentation
from this year’s guest speaker, Dr. Sue Hanks.
Dr. Hanks is the Faculty Chair and Professor in the Hasan School of
Business. She is well versed in business ethics and dining etiquette, and
she has particular expertise in educating students on the do’s and don’ts in
business.
Dr. Hanks said that fear and lack of knowledge on etiquette should never
hinder career growth.
“The image you convey through your behavior impacts your reputation,” Hanks
said. “Life is a learning experience. Take advantage of each opportunity to
improve yourself.”
Community leaders will serve as etiquette role models while discussing
employers’ expectations and interviewing strategies with the students during
dinner.
The dinner, which is sponsored by CSU-Pueblo’s Career Center, Recreation Fee
Board and the Hasan School of Business, is free to CSU-Pueblo students.
Students interested in participating in the dinner may call (719) 549-2932
for reservations. Seating is limited, and reservations will be taken on a
first-come, first-served basis.
