Colorado State University – Pueblo announces ‘Young Women’s Real World Conference’
       
Pueblo-
 Colorado State University-Pueblo Women's Studies Program will host the Young Women’s Real World Conference, a one-day event to assist high school females develop a vision for their futures and plans to get there. Young women not currently considering college are encouraged to attend the conference that will take place 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, November 8 in the Occhiato University Center Ballroom. The registration fee is $5, and some fee waivers are available.

Female students from Pueblo school districts 60 and 70 high schools as well as area schools, such as John Mall High School in Walsenburg, are invited to participate in the conference to learn about career strategies and life planning. The event will include presentations from women who have successfully completed college; an opportunity to learn about the lives of professional women in the Pueblo community; explore gender stereotypes and strategies for moving beyond them; resources that can make attending college a reality; and optional campus tours. Lunch and snacks are included and will be provided at the conference.

High school teachers will be notified of students participating in the conference for school attendance purposes.

This conference is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the CSU-Pueblo’s Women’s Studies Program, MASS GEAR-UP, the Pueblo Human Relations Commission, Boys and Girls Clubs - Girls Inc., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pueblo, Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation, and GEAR-UP (Colorado). The event is sponsored by CSU-Pueblo, Women’s Studies Program, and is funded in part through donations from local businesses, organizations and individuals.
