Hasan School of Business announces program on the globalization and the economy
Pueblo- The effects of globalization on the modern economy will be presented by a noted economics correspondent at a program sponsored by The Hasan School of Business and the Healy Center for Business and Economic Studies. The program will take place from 7:45 to
9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29 at the Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main.
The featured speaker will be Clive Crook, the Deputy Editor of “The Economist,” a widely acclaimed business publication. “The Economist” is well known for its extensive coverage of events that affect economic development throughout the world.
Crook, who was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford and the London School of Economics, has been the economics correspondent, Washington D.C. correspondent as well as the economics editor for The Economist. As The Economist’s deputy editor, his responsibilities for editorial quality-control extend across the entire range of the paper’s interests. He remains the paper’s chief commentator on economic affairs, writing most frequently on global trade, development and the economic role of government. He was the youngest-ever winner of the Wincott senior award for financial journalism (Britain's top prize in this fieldCrook served as a part-time consultant to the World Bank and principal editor of the Bank’s annual World Development Report for five years. Before working for The Economist, he worked as an official in H.M. Treasury (preparing speeches and briefings for Treasury ministers, including the chancellor of the exchequer, and working as assistant to Sir Terence Burns, the Treasury's chief economic adviser).
