Community Invited to Participate in Empty Bowl Fundraiser
Pueblo- Members of the Pueblo community are invited to participate in an Empty Bowl Making Workshop in conjunction with the annual Empty Bowl Nite Fundraiser next month by the Pueblo School of Arts and Sciences (PSAS) to benefit three local non-profit organizations.
PSAS will sponsor the bowl making workshops on three consecutive Fridays in September. The community is invited to attend the workshops from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on September 10, 17 and 24 and make a bowl that will in turn be donated for use at the fundraising event in October. The workshops will be held at PSAS, 1745 Acero.
The Empty Bowl Nite Fundraiser will take place at the Union Depot from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 21. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Posada, Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen and the Wayside-Cross Gospel Rescue Mission.
For a $10 donation, participants at the October 21 event will choose a bowl made at the workshops or by PSAS students. The bowl will then be washed and filled with soup, and participants will enjoy a meal of soup, bread and water together. The bowls go home with the participants. Desserts are available for .50 each.
The fundraiser also will include a silent auction, and local artists are encouraged to donate artwork for the event.
