Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences Celebrates First Decade of Service on May 13
PUEBLO – Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences (PSAS), the first charter school in
Pueblo District
60, was founded in 1994 by a passionate group of educators, administrators, artists, arts advocates, and visionaries with a mission to integrate arts and science with skill-based instruction to allow the whole child to thrive. The community is invited to celebrate PSAS’s first decade of service to Southern Colorado from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at the PSAS campus, 1745 Acero.
Besides being the first charter school in Pueblo District 60, PSAS was the third in the State of Colorado, which now boasts more than 200 charter schools.
The work of students in grades K-8 will be featured as part of the 10th anniversary celebration. Throughout the event, each class will present various coached projects from their curriculum. Activities will include an Anasazi pottery
demonstration in the middle school art studio, a vocal and instrumental concert, the Spring School Wide Art Show, as well as a presentation of PSAS history, past and present, by 7th and 8th grade students. Students will be available in to share their work throughout the day. Comments by founders and various community members may be heard both at 2:15 p.m. and 5 p.m.
