CSU - Pueblo recognizes its 'Leaders of the Pack' for 2003-04
Pueblo -- Outstanding
faculty and staff at Colorado State University - Pueblo were honored at a
recognition luncheon held on Wednesday, April 21.
The University's postmaster Anthony Bonfiglio was recognized as both the 2004
Outstanding Employee and the 2004 Outstanding Classified Employee.
Eighteen nominations were submitted for the 2004 Outstanding Classified
Employee award. Bonfiglio was selected as this year's winner by a panel of
community judges: Sandy Gutierrez of the Latino Chamber of Commerce, Mariellen
Marino of Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and Ruth Steele of the Martin
Luther King Center. Bonfiglio is one employee who worked with every campus
office.
According to nominators, Bonfiglio is probably one campus employee who works
with every person on campus. "As the postmaster of our campus community, he
is trusted by all to provide accurate mailing information and to insure that
campus offices make the most of their budgets by suggesting ways to reduce
postal costs. From explaining complicated international mailing regulations to
tracking an errant package or letter, he approaches his job with kindness,
professionalism, and a sense of humor." Bonfiglio recently completed a
two-year term as president of the Classified Staff Council. During his tenure
with the council, he lobbied to cut the cost of health insurance, represented
the classified employees during budget cut discussions, and developed
fundraising strategies to fund student scholarships. The first runner up for the
award was Custodian Larry Guis. Copy Center Director and Publications
Coordinator Dale Alber was the second runner up.
Bonfiglio also received the 2004 Outstanding Employee Award. Nominations
for this award were based on outstanding accomplishments, initiative,
performance as a team player, commitment to the University, a positive attitude,
and a commitment to personal and professional growth. A campus-wide committee of
current University employees selected the winner. This award recognized
Bonfiglio's work performance as well as his commitment to service that goes
beyond the University as a member of the Executive Board of the Colorado
Federation of Public Employees, the Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountain postal
councils and his family.

always maintained an active research program and has routinely mentored numerous
students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
