CSU-Pueblo speaker provides free advice
for parents struggling with teens
Pueblo -- Colorado State
University - Pueblo will host teen parenting expert and author
Dr. Stephen Dixon at 7 p.m., October 14, at the Occhiato Center Hearthwell
Lounge.
This event is free and open to the general public. The event is sponsored by the
Woman and Non-Traditional Students organizations.
Dr. Dixon is well respected for his work with adolescents and is best known for
counseling teens during the Columbine tragedy. The event will focus on Dr.
Dixon's philosophies aimed at parents who often give into their teen's demands
to avoid conflict and those that second-guess themselves when it comes to
age-appropriate activities.
His philosophies are designed for parents frustrated with their teen's demands,
whose efforts are undermined and parents who are losing faith in their abilities
to discipline. Dr. Dixon helps parents set age-appropriate boundaries, limits
and expectations, as well as helping them to determine specific guidelines to
discipline.
Dr. Dixon's book "It Doesn't Take a Village: Putting Parents Back in
Charge," has received excellent reviews by Amazon.com readers and will be
available for sale at the event.
For reservations, contact the Office of Student Activities at 549-2151.
