CSU - Pueblo students get view of the
latest technology from Saturn VUE donation
Pueblo -- Students in
Colorado State University-Pueblo's Department of Automotive Industry Management
(AIM) will receive instruction in the latest diagnostic testing and servicing
thanks to the donation of a 2002 Saturn VUE.
The VUE, Saturn's new sports utility vehicle, will be used as a state-of-the-art
learning tool. According to AIM Professor Ron Darby, the new automobile is an
excellent resource for the curriculum because it is well equipped with a variety
of options and features and thus provides students with the opportunity to
practice diagnostic testing and servicing on newer, highly-computerized
vehicles. This addition was made possible thanks to graduates Chris Tobie ('93),
Mike Reardon ('94), and former Saturn Vehicle Donation Coordinator John Tourney.
It is the second donation from Saturn in recent years. In 2000, AIM received a
1999 Saturn SL1. Darby welcomes such donations, which have become even more
valuable to the University given the recent cuts in state revenue.
The AIM program offers the only Bachelor of Science degree of its kinds in the
state of Colorado and is one of the few in the entire nation. Graduates of the
program pursue a variety of careers in the automotive industry, and 97 percent
are placed into jobs related to the degree.
