Southern Colorado Wind Symphony at CSU-Pueblo Seeks Musicians
Pueblo -- The Southern
Colorado Wind Symphony at Colorado State University-Pueblo begins its second
season and seeks interested and qualified musicians to join the ensemble.
High school age and older musicians who play wind, brass, or percussion
instruments are invited to attend rehearsals on the Hoag Recital Hall stage on
the CSU-Pueblo campus on Tuesdays and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
beginning Thursday, Sept. 4. A special invitation is extended to community
members and CSU-Pueblo students who are not music majors. The ensemble rehearses
and performs a variety of band literature from show tunes to contemporary
compositions for the wind band. Literature ranges in difficulty from grades 3 to
6 (on a 1-6 scale).
Conducted by Dr. Mark Hudson, Chair of the CSU-Pueblo Department of Music, the
ensemble will perform a concert at 3 p.m. on November 16. Rehearsals will remain
open through Thursday, September 18, when the membership will be closed for the
fall season.
"If you have experience, but have not played an instrument lately, this is
your chance to perform again," said Hudson. "If you do not have an
instrument, we may be able to help with that as well. This is an opportunity to
make music with others in a relaxed, yet productive setting."
For more information, contact Hudson at 549-2552.
