Pueblo -- A working mother, a track
star, a Navy translator and a future nurse will be awarded $1,000 scholarships
from the University of Southern Colorado Alumni Association for 2003-2004
Academic Year.
Each year the Alumni Association offers scholarships to deserving students who
show superior academic achievement and financial need. A special committee of
the Alumni Association Board of Directors reviewed an applicant pool of close to
70 students.
Carol Gill, a single mother of twins, has maintained a 4.0 grade point average
while working full-time, and plans to become a K-12 art teacher.
Lindsay Rudolph, also a 4.0 student, was an outstanding track & field
athlete at Colorado State University, but transferred to CSU-Pueblo to
concentrate on her Chemistry major.
Phiangjai Barnhill has a 3.923 average and is a Thai interpreter for Naval
Criminal Investigative Services during the summer.
Stacy Mantellini, who has a 3.79 average, seeks a career in Nursing Midwifery
after earning her undergraduate Nursing degree at CSU-Pueblo.
All four successful candidates live in Pueblo.
