Pueblo -- Outstanding teachers from
throughout southeastern Colorado will be honored on Sunday, May 18, at the
University of Southern Colorado in honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week.
Since 1984, the National Parent Teacher Association has
encouraged citizens to show their appreciation to teachers during Teacher
Appreciation Week.
Sponsored by the Southern Colorado Teacher Education
Alliance, the third annual teacher celebration, "Teachers Change the World
One Student at a Time," will begin at 1 p.m. in the Occhiato University
Center Ballroom.
Thirty-two students in grades 5, 8, and 12 were selected
from hundreds of contestants based on letters written about their most inspiring
teachers. Those students and 29 teachers will be recognized at the celebration.
Attached is a list of student contest winners including
their teachers and schools. For further information, or to attend the event,
please contact Cindy Gutierrez, SCTEA recruitment coordinator at 719-549-2278.
