USC announces student-alumni
discount card program
Pueblo -- The Associated Students'
Government at the University of Southern Colorado in conjunction with the USC
Alumni Association announce the development of a student and alumni discount
program in order to further campus/Pueblo community partnerships.
The new CSU-Pueblo Student and Alumni Discount Program was designed to promote
local businesses to university students and alumni and to allow those businesses
to show their support of the university. Local businesses can participate at no
cost beyond offering a discount on a product or service to students and alumni.
Students will show their student identification cards to obtain the discounts,
while alumni will have an opportunity to purchase an alumni-discount card for a
minimal fee.
All businesses participating in the discount program will receive a window decal
with the new CSU-PuebloThunderWolf logo that will proudly announce their
affiliation with the program. The name of each business along with its offered
discount will be published and distributed to all university students. Other
opportunities for name recognition will be in the USC Communiqué, the
university's alumni magazine, advertisements placed in the USC Today and the
Pueblo Chieftain, and on the USC website, www.colostate-pueblo.edu.
The discount program also provides local businesses with a new way to target
university students and alumni. Nearly 7,000 Pueblo residents are graduates of
USC, and more than 4,000 students currently attend USC.
"This program provides a win-win situation for USC students/alumni and
participating businesses. USC students and alumni benefit by saving money, and
local businesses benefit by the increased awareness and traffic from the campus
community," said USC Alumni Association President Shari Elson.
Once enrolled in the discount program, business owners can, on an annual basis,
decide if they would like to continue or change their discount. Businesses will
receive increased awareness and traffic among the campus community, while
students and alumni save money. Alumni and student representatives will solicit
potential merchants over the next few months. If you have further questions or
concerns, please contact ASG at 549-2866. Alumni interested in purchasing a
discount card should contact the Alumni office at 549-2810.
