University of Southern Colorado Sponsors Women's Poetry Contest

Pueblo -- In celebration of Women's History Month, female poets of all ages entered the Ninth Annual Women's Poetry Contest. The winners were announced at An Evening of Women's Poetry, March 20, in the Occhiato University Center Hearthwell Lounge. Cash prizes were awarded as follows: First place, $25; Second place, $15; and Third place, $10.

Winners of the 9th Annual Women's Poetry Contests were as follows:

OPEN DIVISION:
1st place- Elizabeth Chappell-Moffeit, Pueblo
2nd place- Edith Edson, Pueblo
3rd place-Dawn Di Prince, Pueblo

COLLEGE DIVISION:
1st place- Judy Fodor, University of Southern Colorado
2nd place-Patricia Moore, University of Southern Colorado
3rd place-Felicia Tapia, University of Southern Colorado

HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION:
1st place-Shawn Lehr, Sedalia, Colorado
2nd place-Amy Cockrell, Centennial High School, Pueblo
3rd place-Liz Benfield, Central High School, Pueblo

MIDDLE SCHOOL DIVISION:
1st place- Hillary Sheehan, Craver Middle School, Colorado City
2nd place- Sarah Juba, Cesar Chavez Academy, Pueblo
3rd Place- Susan Davidson, Corwin Middle School, Pueblo
