Pueblo -- A reception will be held for
the opening of the 34th annual University of Southern Colorado 2003 Juried
Student Art Show from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 13 at the USC Fine Art
Gallery.
A silent auction of art and gifts will be held during the reception to benefit
the sponsor, the USC Art Club. Awards also will be announced at that time.
The jurors selected for the show include artists Rodney Wood and Roberta Bloom.
Wood, a sculptor and metalsmith, was recently selected as one of the five
artists to represent Pueblo in the upcoming show "I-25" at the Sangre
de Cristo Arts Center. He is the former Executive Director of the Business of
Art Center in Manitou Springs and has juried and judged more than 50 shows at
the local and national level.
Roberta Bloom holds an MFA in visual arts from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio,
and a Bachelor of Science in Design from the State University College of New
York at Buffalo. Bloom served as the Head of the Ceramics Program at the Oregon
School of Arts and Crafts (now the Oregon College of Art and Craft) in Portland,
Oregon, and chaired the Art Department at Adams State College in Alamosa.
The show will be on display from March 13 through April 9. Hours are Monday and
Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
