Scholarships available now at the University of
Southern Colorado
Pueblo -- Applications for scholarships targeting women, disabled students
and minorities, as well as majors in music, finance, and business
administration, are available now at the University of Southern Colorado.
Individuals interested in applying for the Glenn Miller Scholarship must submit
a clear high-quality audio CD or cassette tape to the Scholarship Committee.
Competition is open to both instrumentalists and vocalists, and a stated intent
to major or minor in music studies after high school weighs heavily on the
committees decision. Applications must be received no later than March 15, 2003.
Applicants for the National Federation of the Blind Scholarship must be legally
blind. Preference will be given to full-time students, however scholarships may
be awarded to part-time students as well. Scholarships are awarded for academic
excellence, community service and financial need. The application deadline is
March 31, 2003.
Students interested in the American Association of University Women must be
Colorado Springs area females who are currently enrolled in an accredited
four-year college or university. The applicant must be in her senior year of an
undergraduate degree program or in a graduate degree program and be able to
demonstrate financial need. Applications should be postmarked no later than
March 1, 2003.
Individuals interested in the Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship must
be upper-division undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a course of
study preparing for a career in state and local government finance. Applicants
must be full or part-time students in public administration, (government)
accounting, finance, political science, economics or business administration
(with a specific focus on government or nonprofit management), planning to
pursue a career in state or local government finance and be a citizen or
permanent resident of the United States or Canada. Additionally, the applicants
must belong to one of the following groups (as defined by the U.S. Census
Bureau): Black, Indian, Eskimo or Aleut, Asian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic.
Applications must be postmarked no later than Feb. 7, 2003.
Applicants for the George A. Nielson Public Investor Scholarship must be
employed at least one year by a state or local government or other public entity
and be recommended by their employer. They must be enrolled in an undergraduate
or graduate program in public administration, finance business administration or
a related field before funds are awarded, and be a citizen or permanent resident
of the United States or Canada. Applications must be postmarked no later than
Feb. 7, 2003.
Individuals interested in the Government Finance Officers Association of the
United States and Canada scholarship must be currently enrolled full-time in
their senior year of an undergraduate accounting program preparing for a career
in state and local government finance, be recommended by their academic advisor
or the chair of the accounting program and be a citizen or permanent resident of
the United States or Canada. Applications must be postmarked no later than Feb.
7, 2003.
Applicants for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Community College Transfer
Scholarship Program must be of Hispanic heritage, U. S. citizen or legal
permanent residents, part or full-time community college students, with a
minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, applicants must plan to transfer to an
accredited four-year institution in the U. S. and enroll full-time in the
2003-2004 academic year. Applications must be received no later than Feb. 15,
2003.
