Aspiring playwright schedules auditions on USC campus
Pueblo -- Local actors and actresses are encouraged to audition at the
University of Southern Colorado for a new play written by Mark Chartier, a
graduating senior with a major in English and a minor in mass communications.
As part of the university's new playwright's workshop, "The Sun's on the
Pond" is the story of the obstacles of two socially challenged people and
what happens to them when their friendship turns to love.
The auditions will take place Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. in 115 Psychology
Bldg. Actors must prepare a two-minute monologue from their favorite play of two
minutes in length to be performed at the audition.
Chartier said he is looking for two adult males, one adult female, and one
10-year-old (or someone who could pass as a young child) female. He also will be
interviewing potential directors.
Chartier is the entertainment editor and a columnist for the campus newspaper,
USC Today. He has presented his poetry, fiction, and nonfiction at the National
Undergraduate Literature Conference at Weber State University (Ogden, Utah) in
2001 and 2002. He also has been published in the Hungry Eye Literary Journal in
2000, 2001, and 2002.
