USC presents "Manifestations of the Sacred" Gallery Reception
Pueblo -- A reception for the exhibit "Manifestations of the
Sacred" will be held at the University of Southern Colorado Art Gallery
during intermission of the Pueblo Symphony concert on Saturday ( Nov. 9) from
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Hoag Hall.
The exhibit, produced by Jina Pierce, curator at the Sangre de Cristo Arts
Center, and Liz Szabo of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, explores the
meaning of the term "sacred" through the eyes of 19 artists living in
contemporary America.
A variety of two-dimensional and three-dimension media are used to explore the
term, including installations, mixed media, digital prints, oil on canvas,
rhinestones in the form of a "peace symbol" icon, and a video created
by new media artist Atomic Elroy.
The exhibit will run through Nov. 22. Gallery hours are scheduled from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment.
