Professor at the University of Southern Colorado
honored
Pueblo -- Dr. H. Richard Eisenbeis, professor of management in the Hasan
School of Business at the University of Southern Colorado, has been honored by
the foremost association in his field of expertise, at a recent conference in
Banff, Alberta.
In recognition of Eisenbeis' outstanding contributions to the field of case
research, writing, and teaching, the North American Case Research Association
elected him a Fellow. This title has been awarded to only 17 others in the
500-member organization over its 42-year history.
An award-winning case author, Dr. Eisenbeis is widely recognized as a leading
authority on the use of the case method as an instructional technique to bridge
the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application.
"Cases" are examples of business situations drawn from real life that
serve to extend our knowledge of management theory and to illustrate dilemmas
faced by managers in the ever-increasing complexities of the business
environment. These cases, when assigned in class, are used to challenge students
to identify and analyze underlying problems and to identify reasonable
alternative solutions.
Eisenbeis currently serves as an associate editor of the "Case Research
Journal," a major source of cases for Business Schools throughout the world
and, until recently, was director of the Hasan School's MBA program. A case he
co-authored with Dr. Sue Hanks of the Hasan School, and Steve Clark of the
Transportation Technology Center, received the prestigious Curtis E. Tate, Jr.
award as the outstanding business case for 1996. The Harvard Business School has
selected a more recent case co-authored with Eisenbeis, Hanks and Phil Sheehan
of B. F. Goodrich for use in their MBA program.
Over the Thanksgiving break Eisenbeis will travel to Germany to teach an
accelerated Organizational Behavior course at the University of Esslingen.
