University of Southern Colorado Nursing Program
schedules Open House
Pueblo, Colo. -- The University of Southern Colorado Nursing Department
will show off their new nursing laboratories during an Open House on Wednesday,
Sept. 25.
The campus and the community are invited to view the labs
and enjoy refreshments from 1 to 5 p.m. in 223 Technology Building.
According to Sue Robertson, Lab Coordinator, the lab
facilities are a response to a heightened interest in the nursing profession and
increased enrollment in USC's nursing program. The labs were made possible by
collaboration between USC and local health care organizations.
"Parkview Medical Center and Saint Mary Corwin
Hospitals were extremely generous to donate state-of-the-art equipment, which
will provide our students the opportunity to conceptualize real-life hospital
scenarios in the lab, " said Robertson.
Equipment donated by Saint Mary Corwin Hospital includes a fetal monitor,
automatic blood pressure machine and mobile stomach suction pump. Parkview
Medical Center 's contributions include wall mounts for oxygen, suction and
vacuum, two electric beds with mattresses, intravenous pumps and a mobile
treatment cart.
Robertson said the donated equipment will provide
on-campus convenience for USC students as well as transformational learning
opportunities from theory to clinical nursing practice.
The University of Southern Colorado is a regional,
comprehensive university emphasizing professional, career-oriented and applied
programs. Displaying excellence in teaching, celebrating diversity, and engaging
