GREENWAY & NATURE CENTER DIRECTOR SANDSMARK
TO LEAVE USC
Pueblo, Colo. -- Tim Sandsmark, director of the Greenway and Nature
Center of Pueblo, announced today that he has accepted a position as
administrator of the Lookout Mountain Nature Center and Preserve in Golden,
Colorado, effective September 16.
In 1994, Sandsmark joined the staff at the University of
Southern Colorado, which manages the nature center. Located along the Arkansas
River west of Pueblo, the center provides educational, recreational, and
conservation programs related to the environment and natural history.
At Lookout Mountain, he will be responsible for running
the center and preserve and also for planning, conducting and implementing
interpretive and education programs at all 20 Jefferson County Open Space parks.
"While I have not actively sought another
position," said Sandsmark, "this opportunity was too good to
ignore."
USC Dean of Science and Mathematics, Kristine Proctor said
she is coordinating the search for a new director in consultation with USC
central administration, the Greenway and Nature Center staff, and GNC advisory
board members and supporters.
"It is likely an Interim Director will be appointed
in the short term to allow adequate time for a formal search that will hopefully
yield an appreciable applicant pool of qualified and interested
candidates," said Proctor
