Q. When do classes begin and end?

A. ELI classes meet for 20 hours per week. Classes are scheduled between 8:00 and 12:00 in the morning, Monday through Friday. Fall and spring semesters are 15 weeks. The summer semester has 12 weeks. Fall semester begins in late August and ends before Christmas. Spring semester begins in mid January and ends in early May. Summer runs from mid May to mid August.


Q. How many students are in ELI classes?

A. Classes are usually between 5 and 10 students.

Q. How can I apply to Colorado State University-Pueblo?

A. You can apply to both the ELI and CSU-Pueblo with a single application. Click here for the application. You can submit the application on-line or print it and send via fax or mail.
 
Q. When can I get my I-20?

A. When you submit all the documents that we require for the ELI at CSU- Pueblo, we usually guarantee that the I-20 will be sent to you via express courier within 72 hours after we receive your documents.

Q. Where can I live on campus?

A.  There are two choices for living on campus: Belmont Residence Hall (BRH) and University Village at Walking Stick. BRH is a traditional student dormitory. University Village has four-bedroom town homes located on campus. Click here for more detailed information.

Q. How can I apply to the English Language Institute?

A. You can apply to both the ELI and CSU-Pueblo with a single application. Click here for the application. You can submit the application on-line or print it and send it via fax or mail.

A. Yes, it's easy. Just click here.

Q. How long must I study English before I can enter the university?

A. It depends on your level of English proficiency. Most programs at CSU-Pueblo require a TOEFL score of 500 (173 Computer-based TOEFL / 61 Internet-based TOEFL). On average, students gain between 30-50 points per semester. Students may also be admitted on the recommendation of the director.

Q. May I take classes in the university while I am in the ELI?

A. With the recommendation of the director, students may enroll for one university class while they are attending the ELI. Students pay the regular tuition for the class.

Q. Do I need a TOEFL score to apply to the ELI?

A. No, it is not necessary to have a TOEFL score to apply. We request that you submit any scores from tests that you have already taken. Our program is designed for students who have at least 400 when they begin Level 1.

Q. Can I take the Institutional TOEFL test at the ELI?

A. Yes, the Institutional TOEFL is given at the end of each semester.
