Aspen Institute, Nonprofit Sector Research Fund -- The Nonprofit Sector Research Fund will also consider quality proposals that address issues of general concern to the sector.
Candle Foundation - supports grants for community investment, education and information dissemination, hunger and homelessness, preventive healthcare and medical research.
Caterpillar Foundation has distributed more than $100 million to various organizations in the fields of education, health & human service, civic & community activities, and culture & art.
Changing Charity Project  -- Provides grants to encourage the expansion of the nonprofit sector's leadership capacity and enables new leaders to participate in a national dialogue about current challenges to the nonprofit sector. Fellows will conduct applied research projects and participate in a series of strategic discussions and activities in Washington, DC.
Chronicle of Philanthropy  -- the newspaper of the non-profit world. Published every other week, it is the No. 1 news source for charity leaders, fund raisers, grant makers, and other people involved in the philanthropic enterprise. This Web site offers the complete contents of the new issue, an archive of articles from the past two years, and more than two years' worth of grant listings -- all fully searchable.
Corporation for National Service plans to support up to 12 National Service Fellowships.  The Fellowships will be in the form of a contract made directly to  individuals. Both full-time (40 hours or more per week) and part-time (at  least 20 hours per week) may be awarded.
Corning Incorporated Foundation - Each year, the Foundation fulfills approximately 225 grants totaling some $2,800,000.  Corning's areas of involvement have included community service programs for students, curriculum enrichment, student scholarships, facility improvement, and instructional technology projects for the classroom.
Council of Independent Colleges' Engaging Communities and Campuses  program assists independent colleges and universities and their community organization partners extend and deepen their commitments to student learning and community interests. The overall program includes an effective practice exchange, regional teaching and learning workshops, and a grants competition.
Fellowships -- descriptions and contact information for a variety of nonprofit and public policy fellowships.
Fetzer Institute Foundations -- The program is designed to develop and sustain the capacity of individuals to inform their work through the "inner life" of mind and spirit. Most of the programs are focused in the areas of research, education, and service. These programs are open to all individuals.
Frances Hesselbein Community Innovation Fellows Program --Deadline: May 5, 2000 -- Provides a year-long educational program for experienced social sector leaders with a demonstrated record of entrepreneurial performance and a plan for innovation in their communities. To be eligible, candidates must be a chief executive officer or senior staff member of a non- profit organization, have a minimum of ten years' work experience, and be available to attend three scheduled gatherings of Fellows during the program year (approximately ten days). Applications, guidelines, and specific program details are available online.

Virginia A. Hodgkinson Research Prize was established by Independent Sector () in 1995 to recognize outstanding published research that furthers our understanding of philanthropy, voluntary action, nonprofits, and civil society in either the United States or abroad. To be eligible, the research article, report, or book must have been published within the three calendar years prior to the year of the award. Recipients of the prize are researchers and practitioners who work in or with the voluntary sector and who through their work have demonstrated local, regional, national, or international impact and recognition. Two research prizes will be awarded: a first prize of $1,000 and a second prize of $500. Visit the Independent Sector Web site for program details and application instructions.
GuideStar -- A free service with information on the programs and finances of American charities and nonprofit organizations.
Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Learning - will award $25,000 grants to nonprofits for developing and implementing entrepreneurship programs for college students. Internships are to be designed to expose students to social entrepreneurs trying to solve societal problems. . (Deadline early December).
John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation -- A private, independent grantmaking institution dedicated to helping groups and individuals foster lasting improvement in the human condition. The Foundation seeks the development of healthy individuals and effective communities; peace within and among nations; responsible choices about human reproduction; and a global ecosystem capable of supporting healthy human societies. The Foundation pursues this mission by
supporting research, policy development, dissemination, education and training, and practice.
Charles Stewart Mott Foundation grantmaking is organized in the areas of
Environment and  Pathways Out of Poverty
New Ventures in Philanthropy two primary components: a pool of grant money for local or regional initiatives that promote the full range of options for establishing grantmaking funds; and a national staff that supports these local or regional efforts by convening information exchanges, providing tools and technical assistance, and building collaborative relationships with staff at other national organizations that share the goal of promoting the growth of philanthropy. New Voices Fellowship Program to Support Small Nonprofits - awards two-year grants to small nonprofit organizations working in various fields related to social and economic justice. Sponsored program areas include international human rights, women's rights, racial justice, migrant and refugee rights, international peace and security, foreign policy, and international economic.
Nonprofit Information Gallery -- This site allows nonprofit s to access reference materials about financial management as well as various legal issues and event planning. Organizations can also locate information using 13 search engines at this site and get advice about planning and applying for grants.
Nonprofit Sector Research Fund --  A program of The Aspen Institute, was
established in 1991 to expand understanding of nonprofit activities through the support of high-quality research undertaken by scholars and practitioners.
The Fund provides two types of grant awards: 1.Grants of up to $50,000 to support research by any eligible applicant; 2.Grants of up to $20,000 to support graduate students engaged in doctoral dissertation research.
Nonprofit Sector Research Fund (NSRF) A new online resource to serve nonprofit practitioners, scholars, policy makers, donors, journalists, consultants, and others interested in the nonprofit sector and philanthropy. This interactive Web site features easy access to research findings from the broad range of studies supported by the Fund since 1991. A searchable database of completed and ongoing nonprofit-related research projects is now available from the Aspen Institute on the Nonprofit Sector Research Fund Web site.
Notices of Funding Availability -- "Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs) are announcements that appear in the Federal Register, printed each business day by the United States government, inviting applications for Federal grant programs. This page allows you to generate a customized listing of NOFAs."
RGK Foundation is accepting grant applications for innovative projects in community affairs, education, and medicine. Grants in these areas include support for research and conferences as well as support for programs that promote academic excellence in institutions of higher learning; programs that raise literacy levels; programs that attract minority and female students into the fields of math, science, and technology; and programs that promote the health and well-being of children.
William E. Simon Foundation - awards grants in several areas, including, but not restricted to, the following: - Education - Religion - Youth Welfare - Athletics - Social Welfare - Special Awards.
Social Science Research Council -- established the Program on Philanthropy and the Nonprofit Sector to provide greater visibility and coherence as well as intellectual momentum and direction to the study of philanthropy and the nonprofit sector through annual dissertation fellowship competitions and research planning activities.
