Where do I find grants?
 | The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP)
will be happy to assist you by providing training, electronic funding
alerts or by conducting searches for you.

How do I apply?
 | Download the proposal guidelines and application from
the agency web site.
|
 | Schedule a meeting with the Director of ORSP and
forward him a set of guidelines or the guidelines web site.

 | Many agencies limit the number of proposals they will
accept from an institution. Please check with the Director of
ORSP, who will coordinate submissions from the university, prior to
beginning work on a proposal.

What forms do I need?
 | The required institutional Routing Sheet, which is
available under the FORMS
link on
the ORSP web site.

 | The proposal application packet from the agency should
provide all forms they are requiring with the proposal or provide
information directing you where to obtain them. If not, please
check for the contact information for the program director, who you may
contact with your request.

Who fills out the forms once I have them?
 | The Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for filling
out the forms.

 | The ORSP is available to assist you if you have any
questions and to provide any institutional information you may need.

When are the deadlines and where are they posted?
 | The deadline should be posted in the proposal guidelines or
application packet.

 | Please note: the proposal is due to the ORSP at least
one week prior to the submission date.

What do I need to submit to ORSP for final processing and
submission?
 | The completed proposal and all forms required in the
application packet.

 | The completed Routing Sheet with signatures of the
department chair and dean.

AWARD/DECLINE
How do I know if I have been awarded?
 | The awarding agency will send a letter to the principal
investigator or stating the award and the award amount. A copy of the
award letter then needs to be forwarded to the Director of ORSP.

If I am awarded, then what?
 | The PI, Director of ORSP, Department
Chair and Dean will meet to go over the institutional commitments,
reporting requirements and timelines.
|
 | If budgetary negotiations are needed, the Director of ORSP will
assist you in the process.
|
 | The PI will need to complete an Account Create form,
which is available on the ORSP FORMS
page, and submit it to the Grants Manager in Accounting. The
Grants Manager will assign an account number and go over the accounting
process with the PI.

If I've been declined, then what?
 | Most agencies will announce the same grant from year to year. Hold on
to the proposal, meet with the Director of ORSP and
make any necessary changes to resubmit in the next round.
