NEA -- National Endowment for the Arts-- Fosters the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in the United States, and helps to broaden public access to the arts.

NEH -- National Endowment for the Humanities-- Federal agency that supports learning in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities.

NIH   -- National Institutes of Health-- Federal agency that funds biomedical and behavioral research in addition to research training, and policy/administration  information.

NSF -- National Science Foundation  -- Provides upcoming deadlines and target dates for the next 4 months.

Petroleum Research Fund -- The PRF does not use a "deadline" system, but accepts proposals year-round.  The Advisory Board meets to recommend grants in November, February, and May, and needs approximately 4 months lead time for peer review of proposals.  Therefore, target dates for submitting a proposal are mid-July, mid-October, and mid-January.  They may  accept proposals for a given board meeting beyond these target dates until such time as they judge that they could no longer be confident of getting adequate peer review for the submitted proposals.
