Love to RUN???

Love to RUN???   Interested in adding running to your workout plan?

We would like to start a Runner’s Club here on campus (early morning).  If you are interested, please plan on attending a meeting on Thursday, Jan 21 @ 7:15AM in the Student Rec Center lobby.  (If unable to attend but are interested, please reply to this email and we’ll get info to you.)

What?  Running – in a group atmosphere.  All fitness levels are welcome – beginners too!  Keep in mind that you do not have to be in ‘running shape’ to participate.  The focus will be to develop a love for running and to increase your running ability.  Sessions will have variations and allow for beginners and more experienced runners to participate – at their desired level.

Proper warm-up and stretching will be shown and performed.
Variety is the spice of life and it’s good for your body to mix things up.  Appropriate workouts will be developed based on the needs/desires of participants.
Workouts may include:
• Jogging/running hills (repeats), intervals, wind sprints, and other running workouts varying speeds.
• Long distance runs alternated with interval training, hills, speed workouts.
• Integration of other exercises for ‘whole body’ fitness (pushups, sit-ups, etc.).

When?  Early morning - 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 a.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays.  Energize your day!  Exercising early will give you more energy – all day long.

Who?  Sean McGivney, Director of Financial Aid, will lead the group.  Sean is excited to share his love of running and experience.  He’s modest and didn’t want me to share that he has 4 years of Div 1 track & field experience and has also ran marathons .  He mentioned that he needs to ‘get back in shape’ and hopes you’ll join him!

Please join us on Thursday at 7:15am.  For more information, please contact Sean McGivney at 549-2753 or Lisa Martin, Fitness Coordinator, at 549-2058.

Rec Center members and non-members are welcome to participate.  We also want to extend this invitation to our campus community and partners!

Thanks for your time,
Lisa Martin
