Student Services

Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Career Center is to provide opportunities for each CSU-Pueblo student and graduate to develop a clear career objective, to obtain relevant work experience, and to learn the skills necessary to conduct a successful self-directed job search.

Employment Opportunities
The Career Center coordinates:
  • off-campus part-time jobs
  • summer jobs
  • internships and co-op programs
  • full-time professional employment

On-campus Student Jobs
Student Employment is handled through Student Financial Services.

Off-campus Part-time and Summer Jobs
Are posted in the Career Center in the main level of the Student Center and through the CareerTwolves Student.

Students interested in off-campus or summer jobs may contact the employers directly.

Full-time Professional Employment After Graduation
Copies of current job postings can be reviewed in the Career Center and via the webpage.

On-campus Recruiting by Employers
Is coordinated by the Career Center.

Occurs from September-April

Includes part-time and summer jobs, internship/co-op programs, and full-time professional employment after graduation.

Career Fairs
The Career Center sponsors three major events:

  • Dining Etiquette - Preparing for your future!
  • Career Fair
  • Education Fair

All students can obtain valuable career information and learn about summer employment and internship programs.

Career Planning
The Career Center and Student Academic Services offer:
  • an interactive computer program (SIGI3) and written tests to help students identify their skills, values and interests, and to explore careers that match.
  • books, magazines, company literature, and videos to provide valuable career planning information on specific careers and employers.

All students are encouraged to attend career fairs to:
  • learn about employment opportunities: part-time and summer jobs, internships, and full-time employment.
  • talk one-on-one with recruiters from a variety of employers. This is the best way to get career information!!!

Many students obtain career information by:

  • conducting informational interviews (by telephone or in person) with someone in a career that interests them.
  • making arrangements to actually "job shadow" someone in the career that interests them.

Additional Services
Professional staff will coach students in developing:

  • résumés
  • cover letters
  • successful interviewing skills
  • effective job search strategies

Career Development
Participating in an internship or co-op program helps students

  • Decide if they have chosen the right career
  • Gain valuable career-related work experience before graduating.
  • Become very attractive to employers in today’s competitive job market
Internship and co-op postings are available in the Career Center.

The Career Center works closely with academic departments to coordinate internship and co-op opportunities.

Students are encouraged to become actively involved in campus or community activities to develop career-related and transferable skills including leadership, planning, coordination and communication skills.
