Navigating the Annual Financial Aid Process

APPLY

  • Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.  This will require applying for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov (both yourself and your parent if you are a dependent student) if this is your first time completing a FAFSA. 
  • Complete your CSU-Pueblo Scholarship Application.
  • If you are a Colorado resident and working on your undergraduate degree, complete the COF application.*

Priority deadline for the FAFSA and CSU-Pueblo Scholarship Application is March 1st, prior to the new academic year’s fall semester.

REVIEW

  • Log into your PAWS account.
                (Select “Financial Aid” – Select the appropriate award year – Select “Award/Docs”)
  • Check to see if you are required to turn in any documents to Student Financial Services and review your financial aid award.

FINALIZE

  • Choose to reduce or decline any student loans.      
  • If you are borrowing student loans, complete your Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling.*
  • Once you have read and understand all the terms and conditions of your aid, click the acknowledgment check box at the bottom of your award.
  • Fill out the Direct Deposit form and return to Student Financial Services to have any excess funds from your financial aid automatically deposited into your checking/savings account.*
